Nikon J1 Features

Overview

The Nikon J1 is the first of two cameras released under the Nikon 1 label.

Nikon 1 cameras sit right in the middle between Nikon compact digital cameras and the bulkier SLRs. The J1 - in particular - is designed as a "bridge" camera for people who are more used to using compacts than SLRs.

The Nikon J1 features the ability to capture still images while recording Full HD 1080p video. Another mode called "Motion Snapshot" blends still images with video to create unique images.

There is no viewfinder on the J1, nor any optional accessory — if you spend a lot of time shooting in bright sunlight, then you might want to consider the Nikon V1 with its integrated electronic viewfinder.
